Biography of Professor Toshiya Sakata

   Dr. Toshiya Sakata is an Associate Professor in Department of Materials Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering at University of Tokyo in Japan. Having obtained his Ph.D. degree from Osaka University, he spent his many years working at National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan before taking up his present position at University of Tokyo. Dr. Sakata has authored/co-authored over 100 scientific papers and has received several technical awards, including the 6th Yamazaki-Teiichi Prize Winner by Foundation for Promotion of Material Science and Technology in Japan.

   Dr. Sakata participates at Center for NanoBio Integration. His research interests include: DNA, field effect transistors, molecular biophysics, biomedical measurement, biomolecular electronics, genetics, nanoelectronics, nanoparticles, biochemistry, biological techniques, biomedical electronics, biomembrane transport, biosensors, cellular biophysics, drug delivery systems, field effect devices, fluorescence, gold, molecular electronics, monolayers, potentiometers, probes, and silicon compounds.
