Biography of Professor Kuan-Hsun Chen

  Dr.-Ing. Kuan-Hsun Chen is a tenured assistant professor in the group of Computer Architecture for Embedded Systems (CAES) at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. Previously, from August 2019 to August 2021, he held a Postdoctoral position at TU Dortmund University in Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. degree (May 2019) in Computer Science (Dr.-Ing.) from TU Dortmund University with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) and a dissertation award. His research focuses on dependable embedded systems, especially for real-time system software, emerging technologies and architectures. He has published over 70 contributions to top peer-reviewed journals, such as IEEE-TC, IEEE-TCAD and ACM-TECS, and international flag conferences such as RTSS, EMSOFT and DAC. His achievements include Best Paper Award at ECRTS’23, Best Paper nomination at DATE’21, Best Student Paper Award at RTCSA’18. He has been a Guest Editor for two Special Issues of ACM Transactions on Embedded Computing Systems and ACM Transactions on Cyber-Physical Systems, respectively. He also serves as an organizer, member of the technical program committee, and reviewer in several IEEE journals and conferences. Furthermore, he has been the founder of the Dutch Real-Time System Community, funded by 4TU.NIRICT. He is a member of IEEE and a member of the HiPEAC Network of Excellence.
